Technical planning

Engineering the complete energy system.

Generation, storage, demand and the grid connection influence each other. IVATION translates project objectives into coordinated technical planning, from system design and site layout to cable routes, protection and control interfaces.

Your outcome

A shared basis for every technical discipline.

We bring technical decisions together in a traceable planning framework. The agreed scope connects calculations, concepts and interfaces with site, permitting and grid requirements, creating a consistent basis for tendering and execution.

01

System concept and AC/DC design

We consider generation, storage and demand together. Electrical architecture, the export concept and protection requirements are coordinated. Where relevant, the connection of an electrolyser to PV, wind generation and the grid becomes part of the overall concept.

Your outcomeA coordinated system concept with defined technical constraints.
02

PV layout and yield forecast

Module sizing, land use and expected yield are considered together. DC/AC planning and export arrangements account for the grid connection and potential storage. This applies to rooftop and ground-mounted projects, including suitable agri-PV, floating-PV and hybrid concepts.

Your outcomeA traceable design basis for subsequent project decisions.
03

BESS sizing around the load profile

Storage sizing follows the load profile and intended application. We assess technical requirements for peak shaving, grid cost optimisation and grid services. EMS integration and direct electricity marketing requirements inform the interface planning.

Your outcomeA storage concept with a defined use profile and integration needs.
04

Grid connection and cable routes

Grid compatibility, load flow, transformer stations and switchgear are connected to the overall connection concept. We plan cable sizing and routes and coordinate requirements with grid operators. For wind projects, turbine layout, cable routes and protection need to work together.

Your outcomeA coordinated grid connection and cable routing concept.
05

EMS and SCADA interfaces

Detailed engineering and plant controls need to align. We structure the technical interfaces between generation, storage, the grid connection and supervisory control. SCADA requirements and subsequent commissioning are considered during planning.

Your outcomeOrganised integration requirements for specialist designers and suppliers.

Before we start

Two questions to get started.

Can you work with existing designs?

Yes. We can join an existing project and deliver an agreed partial scope. We first assess the design status, available calculations and unresolved interfaces.

What is useful at the outset?

Site documents, the plant concept, load profiles and grid connection information are helpful. Together, we define the engineering disciplines and coordination needed for the next project stage.

Which technical interface still needs resolving?
